Kauai, Hawaii
Well, we did it! The Na Pali Coast Trail that is - Google it - it's pretty rad- touted as the "best hike" in all of Hawaii! (and that's saying something)
The river crossings were a wee deadly, and we ran into a bunch of parties that were stuck on the other side of what became fully engorged, chest-deep rivers for days, and wound up missing their flights - we barely made it out (on time) by our chinny chin chins ourselves - unfortunately we do not have crossing photos because it was sooo sketch ball, all our attention was directed at making it across and moving as quickly as possible on to the next one before it got too high...(unfortunately, one couple from Oregon got behind the group, and after waiting and debating further delay and impending darkness, we 11 decided we could wait no longer...alas, they were left on the other side of the last crossing, likely forced to wait it out until the water levels dropped once again...which might have been days judging by the weather...)
We also had a stroke of magnificent luck in meeting a very generous retired couple, Lloyd and Margaret, who not only took us into their time share and put us up in our own private "locked-off studio," but literally chauffeured us to the trail head - and I might add, picked us up soaking wet and full of jungle muck at 9:00pm when we emerged from our trek...
